Google Images is now part of the Search Network for Shopping ads. Important news from Google, March 8, 2019
Update (August 2026): The change described here was rolled out by Google back in 2019 and has long been the standard - Shopping ads are automatically eligible to appear in Google Images. This post is archival.
Google Images is a rich source of images and, at the same time, a key stage in the purchase journey of millions of users. Potential customers often use this service to look for ideas, guides, products and images related to major shopping categories such as fashion, home and beauty.
At the end of March, Google Images will be integrated with the Search Network. This means that the Shopping ads you know well will automatically be eligible* to appear in search results for relevant keywords in Google Images.
Google Images: What this means for Shopping campaigns
All Shopping ads will automatically be eligible* to appear in Google Images. You no longer need to enable search partners to show Shopping ads in Google Images.
Europe only:
If you don't know which Google services display your ads, check which Comparison Shopping Service you have selected.
If your campaigns currently appear on the search partners network
You may notice a drop in traffic from search partners and an increase in traffic from the Search Network. This is because Google Images previously belonged to the search partners network. Note: historical traffic data from Google Images will remain part of the search partners data and will not be merged into Search Network data.
If you don't currently have search partners enabled in your campaigns
Your ads will start appearing in Google Images, which may increase traffic by 3-10% at a lower cost per click and comparable conversion rates.
